Saoirse’s Story

We have been on a new exciting journey leading to this very special First Holy Communion day which has taught me extraordinary things about the meaning of mass and more about the Bible. Since moving home a few years ago we had been going to mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea church but I was to join StJoseph’s church for my First Holy Communion programme and so was feeling shy and nervous but everyone was so kind and welcoming. From the first week of the programme I felt comfortable and had great friends to help me with this journey in life.

The first week Father Kevin talked to us all and then Sister Mary, Mrs Rosaline and Mrs Justyna gave us a book to help us understand everything about the importance of communion. We started with basic prayers and talked about the Old and New Testament of the Bible and why we have these. I really liked reading about the many marvellous miracles that Jesus did. The book teaches us not to be rude, mean, dishonest, disrespectful, but to be kind and loving.

It has been a great pleasure to be in the First Holy Communion programme. Everyone in both churches has always been so kind and caring so today I had a big smile glowing on my face. It told everyone I was proud and had a happy light that shinned through me as I received my FHC. Thank you.

Feedback for the Holy Communion

Receiving the Holy Communion has been a moment my son Harrison has been waiting to prepare himself for ever, since his sister Grace had her first holy communion. The lessons from the catechism has made him closer to God and improved his prayer life. I can see the changes in his general behaviour that he has acquired good interpersonal skills in addition to his spiritual growth which will stay with himforever. I was not surprised when he said “mum I want to serve at the alter after my holy communion”. His statement inspired his big sister to also volunteer to join in the service to God. Am sure all the children had their own personal experiences which will guide them throughout their life. Thanks to Sr. Mary, Rosaline, Justyna and Fr. Kevin for making this remarkable day a blessed one.

Farewell Fr Martin

It has been a great joy to have Fr Martin with us throughout the month of June, especially following the death of my Mum. Martin helped us at Greenwich for more than a year when I first arrived in 2011. He has his own parish in India to which he is returning. Here is his native parish The Assumption Church
